WHAT IS A CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture. Having a CSA is like a membership or "share" to a harvest. Share members usually join in the winter or early spring before the growing season begins. Joining a CSA , you help us invest in the coming season for seeds, bulbs, soil, equipment, etc. You will also gain knowledge of flowers and help build our local flower community.
Why a CSA?
Over 75% of flowers bought from grocery stores and florist travel thousands of miles in refrigerated trucks, boats and planes before they reach your kitchen table. The Carbon footprint is HUGE! Imported flowers, who are most likely coming from countries like Colombia or Ecuador, are treated with harsh, highly toxic chemicals and insecticides that harm the workers and environment surrounding them. Many of these South American countries do no have strict laws on usage of these types of chemicals. This is a chance to place a beautiful, fresh, chemical free bouquet in your home or in the home of someone you love! Our flowers are harvested at our farm usually the day of or day before pickup.
When does it begin?
Mother nature really decides when the flowers will be ready. I keep my instagram stories well updated with how the flowers are coming along. You will be notified before the first pick up, but depending on the weather the first week will be end of march / begining of April. After the first week is determined then pick ups will continue weekly on friday evenings.
Can I give a week of my share to a friend?
YES! You can purchase a share and have each time be for a different friend or loved one! Shares make great gift! ( contact us and give the name of the person prior to pick up)
Where is pick up?
The flower cart is located at 2253 state route 300 Wallkill, NY 12589. We have a shared driveway, stay to the left and drive all the way back to the green shed on the left hand side. The flower cart is to the left behind the long silver planters.
